Coca-Cola, one of the most recognizable brands in the world, joins the growing cryptocurrency trend by showcasing its exclusive NFT collection on the Layer-2 Coinbase network during the “Onchain Summer” festival.
On August 13th, a Sunday, Coca-Cola unveiled its new NFT token collection on a blockchain named “Base,” which is part of Coinbase’s offerings. This unique collection is an integral part of Coca-Cola’s global campaign titled “Masterpiece,” which was partially crafted through an AI platform of the brand named “Real Magic.”
The “Masterpiece” collection isn’t just a project where Coca-Cola appears as a product – it is the Coca-Cola brand itself that is the star here. With diverse artistic works representing various genres, cultures, and generations, the brand aims to evoke a feeling of a magical moment in everyday life. Among the showcased works are art icons such as Andy Warhol’s 1962 painting of a Coca-Cola bottle, classic masterpieces like Edvard Munch’s “The Scream” and Johannes Vermeer’s “Girl with a Pearl Earring”, as well as pieces by modern artists like Aket, Fatma Ramadan, and Vikram Kushwah.
Coca-Cola showcases its NFT collection as part of the “Onchain Summer” event organized by Coinbase. This monthly festival, which began on August 9th, celebrates the introduction of the Layer-2 blockchain named Base to the general public. Throughout the festival, participants have the opportunity to experience diverse events related to art, culture, music, and games. Coca-Cola is undoubtedly the most recognizable brand among Base’s partners so far.
This is not Coca-Cola’s first venture into NFTs. In 2021, the brand auctioned off exclusive collector’s NFTs, the proceeds of which went to support the Special Olympics. Back then, the first Coca-Cola NFT sets were sold for an amount exceeding $575,000.
Coca-Cola’s involvement in the NFT space holds immense significance for the entire cryptocurrency industry. As one of the largest consumer brands in the world, Coca-Cola can introduce many of its customers to the world of digital art and Web3. Furthermore, the beverage giant is likely to play a crucial role in promoting the Layer-2 Coinbase network named Base.
