Social media stars have a tremendous influence in today’s world. However, their popularity can become their curse, especially in the surprisingly complicated world of cryptocurrency. The story of Ivan Bianco, a Brazilian YouTuber, is a prime example of this.
Not long ago, with the rising popularity of cryptocurrencies, many started looking for information and tips on how to invest in them. One such source was YouTube channels, like the one run by Ivan Bianco, “Fraternidade Crypto”.
Ivan specializes in blockchain-based gaming topics and has garnered significant interest — his channel boasts nearly 34,000 subscribers and over 2.2 million views.
However, even experts have moments of carelessness. During one of his live broadcasts, Bianco accidentally revealed the access keys to his cryptocurrency wallet, known as seed phrases. It was equivalent to handing over keys to a safe full of valuables. Unknown culprits immediately seized the opportunity, took control of the wallet, and stole nearly $60,000 as well as valuable NFTs.
Imagine the shock when Bianco realized what had happened. In a subsequent live stream, with tears in his eyes, he recounted this dramatic event. He pointed out the address of the Polygon wallet, from which 86,600 MATIC disappeared, worth about $50,800 at that time. Additionally, 3.35 ETH (valued at $5,750) was transferred to someone’s account on the Arbitrum platform.
Although the police took the theft report, they admitted that their understanding of what had happened was limited. Bianco expressed belief that recovering the funds would take time and the cooperation of the cryptocurrency community.
This story would have had a sad ending if not for an unexpected twist. After the theft, an unknown man contacted Bianco via Discord, claiming he was responsible for the theft and regretted his actions. Following this contact, most of the stolen funds were returned.
While some of Bianco’s fans questioned the authenticity of this story, the YouTuber himself denied any speculations.
This story serves as an important lesson about the importance of caution in the world of cryptocurrencies. In the digital age, a mistake can cost a fortune, but it also highlights that the online community can be a support in tough times.
