In the rapidly evolving world of cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin miners have recorded a historic increase in income, thanks to the growing popularity of Ordinal inscriptions. This phenomenon, gaining importance, is transforming the way we perceive Bitcoin transactions and opens up new possibilities in the digital currency ecosystem.
In the last 24 hours, the world of cryptocurrencies has witnessed a significant event: Bitcoin miners have recorded record earnings. According to the latest data, the total revenue from Ordinal inscriptions has reached an impressive amount of $9.97 million, beating the previous record of $7.21 million from May 8, 2023. This change stems from the growing interest in inscriptions, a new form of transactions in the Bitcoin network.
Ordinal inscriptions are a way to record unique data directly on the Bitcoin blockchain, which is gaining increasing popularity. Currently, the number of such inscriptions is approaching 50 million, of which about 48.75 million have been registered so far. This growing trend clearly affects the income of miners, who receive fees for confirming transactions containing inscriptions.
On December 16, 2023, Bitcoin miners recorded a record amount of fees received related to inscriptions – over 235 BTC in one day. This event is marked not only by the quantity of accumulated Bitcoins but also by their value in dollars. This record amount exceeded the previous peak from May 2023, when the value of Bitcoin was significantly lower.
Analysis of the data shows that over the last year, miners have accumulated more than 4,084 BTC, which corresponds to a value of $170.68 million, for confirming transactions with inscriptions. Just on December 16, they processed 638,144 transactions, of which 392,574 were related to inscriptions. This means that as much as 61.51% of all Bitcoin transactions that day involved inscriptions.
This phenomenon highlights the growing importance of inscriptions in the Bitcoin ecosystem. This opens up new horizons for both miners and network users. The development of inscription technology may bring further changes in the way Bitcoin is used and perceived, making it an even more dynamic and innovative segment of the digital finance world.
