Do Kwon, former leader of Terraform Labs, finds himself in a very complex legal situation. After his arrest in Montenegro for using forged documents, Kwon now faces the prospect of extradition. Both the United States and South Korea have submitted requests for his extradition, accusing him of serious crimes related to the collapse of the Terra platform.<\/p>\n\n

The Podgorica High Court in Montenegro will have to make a decision about Kwon’s future. Both the USA and South Korea accuse him of fraudulent activities and market manipulations, connected with the spectacular crash of Terra, which led to huge investor losses. According to press reports, Kwon has consented to extradition to South Korea, but the final decision rests with the Montenegrin Minister of Justice.<\/p>\n\n

The founder of Terraform Labs became a controversial figure after the collapse of the Terra ecosystem in 2022, in which about 40 billion dollars in investments were lost. Meanwhile, Kwon and his associate Han Chang-Joon are serving a four-month prison sentence in Montenegro for forging documents. After serving their sentence, the Minister of Justice will decide on Kwon’s further fate.<\/p>\n\n

Kwon is under observation by both the United States and South Korea. Both countries want to bring him to trial for his role in the collapse of Terra. In the United States, the charges include those from the SEC and the Department of Justice, while in South Korea, Kwon could face up to 40 years in prison. Daniel Shin, co-founder of Terraform Labs, is also under scrutiny by the Korean justice system, although he denies all charges and claims he left the company two years before the crisis.<\/p>\n\n
